WINTERFEST

 

ATTENTION SAXONS!!! Voting for the Winterfest door decorating competition has started. Check your emails for a Google Form ballot to vote for your favorite Beach-themed Door. (If you have any questions, send them to Ms. Putnam.) (2/6)

 

 

 

SNOWBALL

 

Snowball tickets are now on sale during lunch and Mrs. Warner's room before or after school.  Price is $15. Come dance the Night away in Wonderland, Saturday, February 7.  If you want to bring a guest from another school, get your guest form filled out and returned to the office by Friday Feb 6. Guest forms can be picked up at the ticket table at lunch. (2/6)

 

Attention all students, there are only 2 days left to buy your Snowball dance tickets. Buy them before time runs out.  

Reminder that all guest forms are due tomorrow. All guests must show a photo ID at check in and they must be in at least 9th grade, but not 21 years or older.

 

 

 

 

 

REMINDERS

 

Please be reminded that the drop-off and pick-up lanes are down the hill in front of the school. The upper drive is reserved for emergency vehicles and for dropping off students who may be disabled/injured. Thank you for your help with this!

 

 

 

 

QUIZ BOWL

Last night, the Hastings High School Quiz Bowl team kicked off their season with a trip to DeWitt for their first competition. The team battled through two close matches against Saint Johns and DeWitt, correctly answering questions James Bond, The Great Gatsby, and the country of Morocco. (2/5)

SCHEDULING LESSONS

Attention 9th-11th graders! The counseling department will be having Scheduling Lessons next week. During your English classes, each grade will plan out their schedules for next school year. Make sure to bring your computers and chargers to your meeting!   (2/13)

 

 

FAFSA

Seniors, are you planning on college and still need to complete the FAFSA? Now is the time to get it done. Check out the Counseling Department page on the high school website where you will find all the tools you need. And if you have questions? Stop by or contact Mr. Cuffman. He will be glad to assist. RESULTS from coaches

Cheerleading

 

The lady Saxons hit the mats in Pennfield for the 2nd I8 Competitive Cheer Jamboree!

JV came in 2nd in their division, turning in some of their highest scores of the season with a total score of 558.40.

Varsity has been working hard this week and came out on top with some of their cleanest rounds yet.  The team had a large lead of more than 60 points over 2nd place Pennfield. 

The teams head to Jackson Northwest next Wednesday for the league finals. Varsity is looking to make a clean sweep bringing home their 6th straight Championship!

 

 


Bowling

 

The Saxons traveled to University Lanes to bowl against Marshall bowlers. 

 

The Saxon Varsity Boys won 23-7. Saxon Boys earned 10 points for their baker games 156 and 211. With Jonas Stiling earning 2 points for his 156,155, Owen Boge 158,171 Andrew Barton 236,159 and Brody Mix for 1 point for his 191 game. 

 

Saxon JV Boys with Max Steele a 116,88 and Gavin Mix 130,96. The Saxon Varsity Girls lost 2-28 over the Marshall Varsity Girls with Chloe Pirtle a 117 game for a point and Megan Ramey with her 154 game.

 

 

 

Wrestling

 

Last night the Saxon Boys Wrestling team hosted Marshall and Harper Creek. The Saxons started off with a 70-10 win over Marshall. Brayden Ward, Hunter Sutfin, Karson Gray, Isaac Lilley, Liam Renner, Logan Smith, Aden Armstrong, Quinn Schnerre, Jace Acker, Tyce Richardson, Ethan Hetrick, and Josh Roberts picked up wins against Marshall. 

 

 In the dual against Harper Creek the Saxons narrowly lost 39-40. Hunter Sutfin, Karson Gray, Liam Renner, Aden Armstrong, Quinn Schnerre, Tyce Richardson, and Jace Acker picked up wins in that dual.

 

 

The Girls Wrestling team improved their dual record to 10 wins and 0 losses with wins over Marshall 66-12 and Harper Creek 51-18

Winning two matches were; Riley Furrow, Bella Strimback, Morgan Casselman, Sara Baker, Autumn Mayak, Abby Fraser, and Alexia Owen.

Dez Mathis, Nani Farrell, London Hammond, Carlee Blake, Chloe Aiken and Ashlyn Bailey.    Highlights of the night was Dez Mathis 13-12 win over the #2 ranked girl in the State and Riley Furrow becoming only the 2nd Saxon girl to ever win 30 matches in a season.   They girls compete in their league championship this Friday.

All the wrestlers want to thank all the students for the fantastic student section at last night's matches.

 

 

 

Boys Varsity Basketball

 

Hastings Boys Varsity Basketball picked up a 52–44 home win over Parma Western last Friday with a late comeback. The Saxons trailed by six with under four minutes to go, then went on a strong defensive run and scored on three of their final four possessions to take control. During those possessions, Jason Jimenez knocked down two free throws, Mason Tossava hit a corner three, and Jack Webb finished a coast-to-coast layup after a steal to give Hastings the lead. Jimenez led all scorers with 16 points and added four blocks. Trevin Russell had 11 points, while Tossava and Webb each added seven.

 

The Saxons are back in action tonight on the road at Lakewood in a makeup game. It should be a competitive matchup against a close local rival.  Hope to see you there.
