Transportation Request Forms

If your student plans to ride the bus next school year, don’t forget — an updated Transportation Request Form must be submitted. These forms are collected annually to help the transportation department plan bus routes effectively for the upcoming year.

To make things interesting, we’re adding a little friendly competition. The building with the highest percentage of completed forms turned in by Thursday, May 29 will win a special prize!

Let’s make it happen. Get those forms in!

JV SOFTBALL

JV softball took 2 games from Ionia yesterday winning 12-1 and 17-2. Lily McFarlan pitched 5 innings and struck out 6. Raegan Wattles stood out on defense. Marlayna Young had 2 hits to lead the Saxon offense. Alli Tefft added a double.

Game 2 saw McFarlan and Wattles share duties in the circle. They combined to strike out 4 in 3 innings. Sophia Bucher was fantastic behind the plate, making nice defensive plays and throwing out multiple runners. Molly Cherniawski and Jae Neymeiyer had multiple hits for the Saxons.

VARSITY SOFTBALL

The Hastings Saxons hit the road Thursday night and battled their way to a doubleheader sweep over the Ionia Bulldogs. Strong pitching, consistent offense, and extra-inning resilience fueled a memorable night for the team.

Game 1: Hastings 11, Ionia 4
Kylee Bosworth set the tone early, throwing a complete game and holding Ionia to just 8 hits while keeping their offense in check. At the plate, the Saxons were firing on all cylinders. BuehlerBosworth, and Greenfield each delivered multiple hits, helping Hastings jump out early and maintain control throughout.

Game 2: Hastings 16, Ionia 15 (8 innings)
The nightcap was a dramatic, back-and-forth slugfest that went to extra inningsAllerding got the start in the circle and battled through a high-pressure game. The offense stayed hot, led by Buehler and Bosworth, who each tallied three hits in the win. A clutch go-ahead rally in the top of the 8th gave the Saxons the edge, and the defense shut things down in the bottom half to secure the sweep.

GOLF

The Hastings varsity golf team wrapped up I-8 Conference play Wednesday at Cedar Creek Golf Course, finishing sixth overall with a team score of 344 in tough spring conditions.

Junior Daniel Jensen led the Saxons with a gritty 79, rebounding from a rough start on the back nine with a stellar even-par 36 on the front. Jensen capped his round in dramatic fashion with an eagle on hole 9—his final hole of the day due to the shotgun start.

Freshman Andrew Barton continued to impress in his debut season, carding a career-best 80. Barton was steady throughout, sitting just one-over through 11 holes before giving back a couple late. His poised play helped anchor the Hastings lineup.

Bronson Elliott added an 88, settling into his round after a shaky start. Juniors Cayden Cappon and Nathan Auten, along with senior Hunter Pennington, rounded out the squad with matching grit, though all three struggled with Cedar Creek’s unforgiving layout, particularly a brutal stretch through holes 3, 4, and 5.

The Saxons found bright spots despite the challenging conditions and will look to build on this experience heading into regionals.
