We want to proudly celebrate and thank our seven dedicated Board of Education members for their leadership, service, and commitment to our schools. Their time, thoughtful decision-making, and unwavering focus on what’s best for students help shape a strong future for our entire community.

Please join us in showing appreciation for their passion, perseverance, and partnership.

We’ve received some questions about whether school breakfast and lunch are free in 2026. After some initial uncertainty during the state budget talks in the fall, free meals for students did remain in place. 🍎🥪

New year. New goals. Big impact.
Our team spends hours reviewing data to ensure every student gets the support they need. It’s all hands on deck as we use every space, time, and staff member to help our students succeed.

We’re excited for Semester 2 and grateful for our amazing reading coaches who help make this work possible! 💙

Due to forecasted weather and poor driving conditions, our community daycare will open at 8 a.m., while the Hastings Community Education and Recreation Center (CERC) will be closed tomorrow (Dec. 29) morning. Morning athletic practices are also cancelled.

Decisions regarding afternoon athletic practices and CERC activities will be evaluated at noon tomorrow.

Leadership, a positive attitude, sportsmanship, and strong character — these are just a few of the traits our monthly Young Citizenship Award recipients possess. We’re proud to introduce the award winners for November 2025, presented by the Hastings Kiwanis Club.

Hastings High School's Youth in Government will give kids an opportunity for a festive night out, complete with Christmas movie and other activities. Save the date!

A recognizable face paid a visit to Southeastern Elementary and our young students were VERY EXCITED!

Santa Claus chatted with students and read "The Night Before Christmas" as he prepares for a very busy Christmas Eve night in a couple of weeks.

🎄A big thank you to the Michigan State Police officers and Michigan DNR conservation officers for making this holiday season extra special! They visited our elementary school buildings and took some deserving students out for a Shop with a Cop experience, ensuring every child gets to enjoy a merry Christmas.

🎁 This incredible program is a true testament to the generosity and dedication of our law enforcement, both during the holidays and every day of the year. We're so grateful for their continued service and for spreading holiday cheer to our students. Thank you!!

Hastings Area School System will be CLOSED today, Wednesday, December 10, due to inclement weather. We will share updates regarding athletics and after-school activities later today.

Please note that the scheduled Grand Rapids Symphony performance at the Hastings Performing Arts Center will proceed as planned.

🌊🏊‍♂️ Teaching Tuesday! 🏊‍♀️🌊

Our 3rd–5th graders are diving into learning this month! As part of our PE curriculum, students spend three weeks swimming at the CERC. This experience not only builds confidence but also teaches a critical life skill.

A huge thank you to Mr. Cole for making this opportunity possible, to HEEF for sponsoring the program, and to our amazing parent volunteers for helping support our swimmers. We appreciate you!

✨ Teaching Tuesday ✨ A huge thank you to Chase Coughlin for donating 12 turkey dinners this week! We are incredibly grateful for his generosity and support. Because of him, we are able to help feed our very own SE families this holiday season. 🦃💛 We were also able to get Student Council involved to help sort through all the food - what a great way for our students to give back! We are thankful for our community partners who make a difference every single day!

🎉 We filled the Fishbowl! 🎉 To celebrate, our students took part in a fun Thanksgiving-themed scavenger hunt! They worked through five clues, collecting a special item at each station. Afterward, they headed back to class to create their very own edible turkeys! 🦃 The biggest highlight? We let the kids run in the hallway and they had an absolute blast! We love celebrating our students and all their hard work! ❤️
