Wow! Everyone who organized and participated in last week’s WinterFest truly showed up in a big way. Not only did we have an incredible time, but together we raised an amazing $9,284.54 for the Lucas family to help Nolan get a diabetes service dog.
That’s huge and just another example of our school community supporting one another.
Thank you SO much to everyone who helped make this year’s WinterFest such a success!

🏅Teaching Tuesday🏅
Three times a year, we take a deep dive into our data to reflect, align, and grow. Our leadership team spent time preparing and sharing this information with staff at yesterday’s staff meeting - and this round had a fun Winter Olympics theme!
We’re focused on clear goals in three key areas: reading, math, and behavior. It’s a powerful opportunity for our staff to get on the same page, stay focused, and continue growing together for our students.

🎉 Who’s joining us for pizza and purpose? 🍕
📅 Our Pizza Hut Fundraiser is TODAY and we want to see YOU there!
✅ Pizza Hut in Hastings all day long
📢 Spread the word and help us make a BIG impact!
Let’s turn pizza night into support for Southeastern!

Many of our elementary students helped us celebrate a big milestone across Hastings Area Schools: the 100th day of school!
They came to school with some fun and creative outfits. What a fun way to mark 100 days of learning!

Kickstart Deposit Day - TOMORROW!
Monday, February 9 is a deposit day and the first one that includes Kindergarten-5th grade.

Due to poor weather, driving conditions and the existing winter weather advisory that will extend through the day, HASS is closed for Friday, February 6.

The Southeastern Elementary 5th graders participated in Bittersweet Ski Resort's Gym Day program this week. Students started the day with a lesson from the Bittersweet staff and then spent the rest of the day perfecting their skills on the slopes!
Kids enjoyed learning a new outdoor sport. Thanks to the staff and volunteers that helped make the program successful. Also a big thanks to Hastings Education Enrichment Foundation and First Presbyterian Church for their financial support.

Mark your calendars for preschool registration!

What a special treat for our lower elementary students, who were joined by fellow students from Delton Kellogg School District!
Members of the Grand Rapids Symphony and Grand Rapids Ballet brought a LolliPops performance to the stage at the Hastings Performing Arts Center, creating a learning experience through music and movement.
By blending The Emperor’s New Clothes and The Ugly Duckling, the performance introduced students to the magic of storytelling while also teaching them about music and the structure of an orchestra.
This opportunity was made possible by the generosity of the Douglas A. and Margaret E. DeCamp Foundation. We are grateful for partners who help our students develop a passion for the arts!

🍎Teaching Tuesday🍎
Check out pictures from our most recent Lunch with a Leader!
Students earn tickets that are randomly picked for a chance to eat lunch with the principal in the office. We share laughs, have great conversations, and students never hesitate to tell me what’s working and what could be better! 😄💬
Their voices matter, their ideas count, and I love spending my lunch with them!
