The Kiwanis Club of Hastings is once again proud to present its monthly Young Citizenship Award to outstanding fifth graders from each elementary school, as well as two students from each grade level at the Middle School.

These students exemplify quality conduct in their everyday lives and excel in areas such as character, service, sportsmanship, academics, and leadership.
Congratulations to the September award recipients. Look for them in this week's Hastings Banner. Great work, everyone!

Last week, two of our dedicated teachers proudly represented Southeastern at The Reading League Conference in Chicago!

At Southeastern, teaching students how to read is our number one priority. Our educators stay up to date with the latest research and are always willing to adapt quickly to meet the needs of all learners.

We’re excited to bring this new knowledge back to our classrooms and can’t wait to put it into action

🎉 We filled our Fish Bowl! 🎉 To celebrate, we had an amazing assembly with Basketball Jones — and what a time we had! 🏀💥 So much energy, laughter, and fun. Thanks to our PTO who helped make it happen!

It will be a busy day of homecoming festivities today, capped off with a BIG game against Harper Creek. Go Saxons!

🎉 Principal for the Day! 🎉 Huge congratulations to Rory for being our highest fundraiser! She raised over $800 for SE!! Let’s all give her a big round of applause for earning the special title of Principal for the Day!

🍎 Teaching Tuesday: It Takes Everyone!
Please join us in welcoming Paula, our new lunch lady! Paula goes above and beyond—stepping into the library when needed, keeping things calm and organized, and making sure our students are well-fed with breakfast and lunch each day. We’re so thankful to have her on our team! 💛

Barry Intermediate School District is asking voters this November to consider a Regional Enhancement Millage. This proposal would generate local funds through property tax to directly support educational and career-readiness programs for all students and school districts within the ISD — including Hastings Area Schools.

Barry County United Way and Volunteer Center generously donated leftover school essentials from their backpack program to both Central and Southeastern Elementary Schools. We are so appreciative of this thoughtful gift, which helps ensure all our students have the supplies they need to stay equipped and ready to learn!

Today, our 3rd and 4th graders enjoyed a special performance of Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus at the Hastings Performing Arts Center. This wonderful opportunity was made possible through the generous support of the DeCamp Foundation, who provided the event free of charge. What a treat for our students!
